Albert Kivikas


Albert Kivikas in the 1930s. Albert Kivikas (born January 18, 1898 in Suure-Jaani, May 19, 1978 in Lund) is an Estonian writer.

In his youth he published under the pseudonyms of A. Pedajas and Mart Karus. After the Estonian-Bolshevik war, in which he volunteered, as one of several Estonian writers experimented with futurism. His most important works are novels and novels devoted to war (including the most important, Nimed marmortahvlil, published in 1936) and social problems of the village. Between 1941 and 1944 he was president of the Estonian Writers' Union. In the spring of 1944 he emigrated to Finland, and in the autumn of that year he moved to Sweden where he lived for the rest of his life. Artworks Authoritative control (person):
