Balinese women carrying sacrifices to the temple Balinese (Balinese: anak Bali) - An ethnic group inhabiting the Indonesian island of Bali, in 1993 their population was 3.6 million. They use the Malay-Polynesian language of Balinese. In the Middle Ages they were influenced by Indian culture through the state of Madagascar. To this day they have maintained Hinduism and a caste system (caste of brahmanas, warriors, merchants and peasants). Men and women have equal rights in family and social life, and young people enjoy a lot of moral freedom in premarital life.
