Nea Kameni


The picture from Theresia shows Nea Kameni (straight), Palea Kameni (on the left) and a small fragment of Aspronisi (in the background on the left). Nea Kameni is a Greek small and uninhabited island located in the bay of Santorini. The island was founded in the 16th century after the volcanic eruption. The last eruption (minor) took place in 1950. Nea Kameni resembles a circle in shape. The island's width is 2 km and the total area is 3.4 km². The island is very popular among tourists, with dozens arriving on the island to view the volcanic crater that rises to 150 m.

Located in the decentralized administration of the Aegean Islands, in the South Aegean region, in the Thira region, in the municipality of Thira.
