Christian Bourgois
Christian Bourgois (born 21 September 1933 in Antibes, France, December 20, 2007) is a French publisher, founder and longtime owner of Christian Bourgois - Éditeur.
He founded his publishing house in 1966, in collaboration with Dominik de Roux. It is famous for the popularization of French literature abroad, among others published by the authors include Gabriel García Márquez, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, William S. Burroughs, Jim Harrison, Ernst Jünger, António Antunes, Antonio Tabucchi and Witold Gombrowicz. In 1989, he published The Satanic Verses of Salman Rushdie.
