Irena Lorentowicz
Irena Lorentowicz (born September 25, 1908 in Warsaw, died February 11, 1985 in Warsaw), Polish painter, stage designer, pedagogue. The daughter of the literary and theater critic Jan Lorentowicz (1868-1940).
Graduated from the Warsaw School of Fine Arts (1925-1931). As a scenographer, she has collaborated with Warsaw theaters since the 1930s. She was invited to collaborate on Szymanowski's Harnasie at the Paris Opera in 1936, earning her first Grand Prize for the stage design and five-year French government scholarship. Over the next few years she continued to work in Paris and continued her studies at the Sorbonne faculty. In the years 1941-1959 she worked in the USA, among others. worked with the Metropolitan Opera. In the American continent, she has also received her religious paintings, frescoes, stained glass, sculptures and, above all, book illustrations for children. After returning to the country in 1960 she continued her artistic work and worked as a set designer with many musical and dramatic theaters in the country. She lectured and led workshops at the Secondary School of Theater Technique in Warsaw. In 1975, she published her memoirs, "Enchantments." Bibliography
