Jan Legierski (1911-1944)
Jan Legierski (born 17 June 1911 in Koniaków, died 1944) is a Polish skier, medalist of the Polish Championship.
He completed his elementary school in Koniaków. Representative of Poland in the classic combination, champion of Hungary, the best skier of the Silesian Region. In 1934 the bronze medalist of the Polish championship in the relay 5 x 10 km and jumping competition in the colors of the Silesian Ski Club.
Legierski's career was interrupted during the competition in Wisła-Łabajów. On his return he failed to regain his former form. In 1944, he was arrested by the Nazis and murdered.
In Istebna there was a ski tournament for the cup of his name.
He was married (Wladyslaw's wife); he left three children son of Kornel and daughter of Genowefa and Marta. Bibliography
