Konrad Imielski


Wilmer López Arguedas (born March 8, 1971 in Alajuela) is a Costa Rican footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder. It measures 169 cm in height and weighs 70 kg. Club career

López started his career at AD Carmelita. On January 5, 1992, he made his debut in Costa Rica's first league match against ASODELI. He played for Carmelit until the end of the 1992/93 season, and after that he moved to the stronger LD Alajuelense. From the very beginning he became the primary player of this club, and his first successes in career reached in 1996. With his team he won Copa Interclubes UNCAF, and also won his first title in the country championship. In 1997 he repeated his second success, and in 1998 went to the Colombian Deportes Tolima. He spent a short period there, and after a few weeks returned to Alajuelense. In 2000 he again became a league champion, and this success continued in the next three years and in 2005, including Alajuelense seven times winning the title of champion in the country. His successes with his partner were also on the international stage. In 2002 he reached the second Copa Interclubes UNCAF (he also won in 2005), and in 2004 won the CONCACAF Champions Cup, the first for Alajuelense since 1986. In 2007 he left the club after 14 years of playing. He was a Municipal Pérez Zeledón player. Representative career

In Costa Rica's playoffs, López made his debut on August 6, 1995 in a 0-3 friendly defeat against Japan. In 2002 he was appointed a member of the Costa Rican team and played in all three group matches: a 2-0 win against China, a 1-1 draw with Turkey and a 2-5 defeat against Brazil. He finished his professional career in 2003. In the national team he played 76 games and scored 6 goals. Bibliography
