Positive freedom


Positive freedom - so called. "liberty to ..." (assemblies, influence on the authorities, elections, representation) is identical with democracy and demoliberism (chief ideologist John Stuart Mill). One of the varieties of freedom Isaiah Berlin has in his essay titled " Two concepts of freedom (1958).

Its opposite was supposed to be so. negative freedom - the so-called. "liberty from ..." (compulsion by the authorities, taxation, government interference in private life), based on conservative liberalism (principal thinkers: Alexis de Tocqueville, Herbert Spencer). Bibliography
