USS Narkeeta (1892)
USS Narkeeta (also known as "steam tug # 3") - Wahnet tug of the United States Navy from the turn of the 19th century. The keel was laid in April 1891 at the City Point Iron Works yard in Boston. He was commissioned on February 11, 1892. Adopted by Mariner at the Boston Shipyard on March 12, 1892, entered service April 14, 1892. "Narkeeta" was a two-tonne tug with a steel hull. He served in the Navy, performing towing tasks until 1923. He operated mainly in the New York area, helping to move larger units inside a busy port during the two wars (Spanish-American and World War I). He was withdrawn from service in April 1923 and remained in the New York area for sale on October 28, 1926. The unit was purchased by Joseph F. O'Boyle. Bibliography
