William Henry Lyttelton


William Henry Lyttelton (born 24 December 1724, 14 September 1808) is a British diplomat and politician. His father was Sir Thomas Lyttelton, 4th Baronet of Lyttelton. As the youngest son, he did not inherit property, so he served in many government offices. In the years 1755-1759 the governor of South Carolina, Governor of Jamaica between 1760-1765.

Between 1766 and 1770 the British ambassador in Lisbon. In 1776 he received the title of couple as Baron Westcote.

Twice the MP from Bewdley; in the years 1748-1755 and 1774-1790.

When Lyttelton's nephew died in 1779, Baron Lyttelton inherited the family name of Baron Lyttelton and family interests in Frankley, Halesowen and Hagley. Bibliography
