Lublin (crater)


Lublin - Crater on the surface of the asteroid (253) Mathilde with a diameter of 6.5 km, located at 55.3 ° north latitude and 156.8 ° west.

The decision of the International Astronomical Union in 2000 was named after the Polish city of Lublin. Because the asteroid has a very dark surface (darker than coal), craters on Mathilde have been named from various famous regions of Earth where coal is extracted. The name of the crater Lublin was given in to the Lubelskie Coal Basin. Bibliography
