Bogdan Czabański


Bogdan Czabanski (April 24, 1927 - Chojnice, July 11, 2003) was a leading physics educator in Poland, AWF professor in Wrocław, author of numerous publications on the optimization of learning and teaching of movement.

He graduated from the Wrocław Academy of Physical Education (at that time known as the Higher School of Physical Education), obtaining a master's degree in physical education in 1951. He also studied at the Faculty of Pedagogy at the University of Warsaw. On June 26, 1962, he defended his doctorate in humanities. Jan Konopnicki. In 1980 he received the title of habilitated doctor (at the Warsaw Academy of Physical Education), since 1989 he was an AWF faculty member in Wrocław, and a year later he received a professor's degree.

Since 1951 he has been associated with Wroclaw's physical education school. He went through successive career stages, from assistant to professor, and also served as a manager of several plants and two chairs (Chair of Learning and Teaching Movement and Department of Physical Education), Vice-Dean and Dean, Vice-Rector for Science. He was also the director of the Sports Institute. Since 1987, he has also been a professor at the University of Hamburg, where he has held numerous research internships. in Germany and Canada.

In his scientific work, he was involved in didactics of physical education and the theory and biomechanics of water sports. He has published more than 100 articles in the Polish, German, Belgian and Canadian scientific journals, including 14 books and scripts. He was the organizer of eleven international scientific conferences. He devoted himself to the popularization of science, and in 1996 he founded the annual award of his name for the author of the best scientific publication in the field of didactics of physical education.
