Jean Nicolas Houchard


Gen. Jean-Nicolas Houchard Gen. Jean-Nicolas Houchard Jean Nicolas Houchard (born January 24, 1740 in Forbach, Lorraine, died November 17, 1793 in Paris) is a French general of the French Revolution.

Houchard was a volunteer in the Royal-Allemand cavalry regiment, taking part in the Seven Years' War. At the outbreak of the French Revolution he belonged to the Bourbon Dragoon Regiment.

He fought against the Dutch and the Austrians. He was arrested and convicted by the Revolutionary Tribunal, sentenced to death for "betrayal of his homeland". He was guillotined on November 17, 1793 in Paris. Literature Authoritative control (person):
