Mikulicz's cells
Mikulicz cells - histiocytic cells characteristic for specific granuloma occurring in the hard core. The name comes from the famous Polish surgeon J. Mikulicz-Radecki. They occur especially in older infiltrations. In the early stages of infiltration there are few. These are large cells and contain numerous vacuoles which have a foamed appearance (foam cells). The cell nucleus, usually small, is located on the periphery of the cell. Inside the cells are numerous sticks of hardwood (Klebsiella rhinoscleromatis). Mikulicz cells are usually placed in the lump forming the granuloma. Bibliography
