Self-censorship


Self-censorship as one of the levels of censorship Self-censorship - the process of deliberately correcting one's own creativity from content regarded as controversial, obscene or vulgar, or unaware of matching his or her work to the applicable social canon, convention or worldview. Self-censorship usually results from the creator's need for social acceptance for his / her artistic or professional activity, and involves the expectation of gain or recognition, or to avoid criticism or controversy by matching his / her creativity to content acceptable to his / her social environment.
