Senon (stratygraphy)
Senon - informal stratigraphic unit of upper chalk.
Most often, the three highest chalk floors include: santon, kampan and masthead. Some researchers did not include the masonry senate, such as Alcide d'Orbigny, who was the author of the concept and introduced this unit in 1842 to stratigraphy. Few authors added cognac. The use of this term by different researchers for different age ranges is rarely used, and the name senon is rarely used, but rather with the formal names of the floors.
The name of the unit is derived from the Roman name of the Senon tribe, which once occupied the town of Sens in central France. Bibliography
