Suburbs of Szczebrzeskie (Zamość)

Szczebrzeskie - one of the former districts of Zamość, which existed until recently. It was located between ul. Szczebrzeska, ul. Queen Jadwiga, former moat (near the Old Town's fortress walls) and the Łabuń River.

The borders of the Szczbrzeski suburbs were close to the current borders of the os. Podgroble, which is part of the os. Old Town. History Szczebrzeskie Suburbs was established in 1583 west of the city. It was located behind a small lagoon between the ridge and the Sadowisk (there is now a street with this name). They were also called Podgroble and counted in 1696 46, and in 1770 35 houses. The suburb was often destroyed by fires, and in 1809 it was almost liquidated by the destruction, but in 1821 there were 26 houses. After the closure of the Zamość Fortress, a military farm was built in this district. Thanks to the efforts of the city, the land was sold to him in 1938, and the town was located here. There was also a school built, and since 1951 a residential area has been built here, with modest buildings (designed by Tadeusz Zaremba). Now

Currently, the suburb of Szczebrzeskie exists as a settlement of Podgroble (part of the Old Town), which runs through the street of the same name. It consists of 6 streets and 78 private properties, which are home to around 350 people. Bibliography
