(8493) Yachibozu
<8493> Yachibozu - Asteroid belt asteroid group that circled the Sun in 3 years and 329 days in the mean distance of 2.48 AU. She was discovered on 30 January 1990 at Kushiro by Masanori Matsuyama and Kazuo Watanabe. The name of the asteroid is derived from yachibozu, a grass commonly found in marshes near Kushiro on Hokkaido. The name was chosen from the names proposed by the children participating in the Fureai Space Festival held at Kushiro on the occasion of the Japanese Space Day 2007. Prior to naming the planet, the name was temporarily identified (8493) 1990 BY1.
