Andrzej Butkiewicz


Andrzej Butkiewicz (born June 30, 1955 in Nidzica, March 7, 2008 in Norton, near Boston, USA) is a Polish anti-communist opposition activist, before the August democratic opposition, and Solidarity's NSZZ.

For his activity removed from studies. He was in August 1980, the organizer of the Free Shipyard of Gdynia Shipyard, and then the manager of the "Solidarity" printing house in Gdansk. During the period of martial law, he was interrogated for a year in a prison in Strzebielnik. After being freed, he had difficulty getting a job and therefore decided to emigrate to the US.

On March 13, 2008, Poland's President Lech KaczyƄski was posthumously awarded the Knight's Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta for his outstanding engagement in Poland. Bibliography
