Fonolit
Phonolite (echodolite) - exuding, alkaline, igneous rock, silica-free, composed mainly of potassium feldspars and feldspars. The mineral composition does not contain free silica SiO2 in the form of quartz, crystalline or tridymite. SiO2 occurs only as a component of other minerals, from 44 to 52% by weight.
It is located in the 11th of the QAPF volcanic rock diagram.
Phonolite occupies a PH (phonolite) field in the TAS classification.
The main mineral is potassium feldspar, other minerals are: plagioclase, feldspar, pyroxenes, hornblende. Rocky minerals are: orthoclase or microclimate, albite, feldspar, pyroxene, amphibole, biotite.
It comes in the form of domes, veins, lacquers. The color is gray, greenish, sometimes almost black.
It is used in the ceramic industry and in road construction, where it is used as a source of feldspar. Bibliography
