Ludwik Bukowski


Ludwik Bukowski (born August 15, 1782 in Kluczy - died 15 August 1831 in Warsaw) - general of the brigade of Polish troops during the November Uprising.

During the Polish-Austrian War he was appointed captain of the 10th Hussars Regiment of the Duchy of Warsaw on 9 August 1809. He crossed the battle line of this formation during the war with Russia in 1812. For the courage of the Virtuti Militari Order bachelor. As the regimental commander retreated with his unit westward. In April 1813 he entered the 4th Lancastrian Regiment of the Duchy of Warsaw. For the campaign in Saxony received the Cross of the Legion of Honor. In 1815 it was assigned to the 4th Cavalry Regiment of the Congress Kingdom. In 1818 he began his service in the 1st Regiment of Equestrian Rallies of the Congress Kingdom. In 1820, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel, and in 1829, as colonel, became commander of the 1st Lancers Regiment.

During the November Uprising, at the head of the cavalry brigade, he took part in the battle of Bialoleka. On June 19, 1831, during the Battle of Lysobyk, he did not rush to help with his cavalry General Karol Turno, which contributed to the defeat of the Polish side and the breakdown of the strategic uprising. June 18, 1831 appointed brigadier general. June 29, arrested and indicted by the Recognizing Committee. Being held at the Royal Castle in Warsaw, was lynched by the crowd during the riots.
