Rotary machine
Rotary machine
Rotary machine, so called. "rotation" - a printing machine in which the printing form is rounded (the printing surfaces of this mold are located on the surface of the cylinder).
In this type of machine, the printing form (in the form of "sheet") is placed on a cylinder (offset or CtPress) or etched directly on the cylinder (rotogravure), and the cylinder rotates uniformly around its axis. Other moving elements of this type are also moving in the same way, although some of them move in the opposite direction.
Rotary machines are high-performance machines, because the print substrate moves through the machine at a constant speed and in one direction, so it is possible for both the machine to move several sheets of the substrate simultaneously (sheet machine) or to use paper rolls from the roll as well as setting up several ink units within one machine, which results in multicolor printing in one pass of the substrate through the machine. Duplex printing is also possible.
The opposite of a rotary machine is a simpler, cheaper, but less efficient flat machine with flat-layered printing components.
