Adam (biblical city)

Adam (hebr עריכת אדם) - according to the biblical book of Joshua 3:16 - the city lying near Sartan, mentioned in the description of Israel's passage through Jordan on the way to the Promised Land. The Bible says that the waters of the river stopped near Adam. Location

Identified as Tall ad-Damija (Tel Damiai, Damia) in Jordan at the border with Israel (West Bank), lying on the east side of the Jordan River, not far from where Jordan enters Nahr az-Zarka, northeast from Jericho, about 20 miles (32 km) north of the Dead Sea. Such identification is due to the proximity of the Adamami Bridge, also known as Adam Bridge.
