Erwin Levy


Erwin Levy (born April 11, 1907 in Grudziądz, died November 10, 1991 in New York City) is an American psychologist of Jewish-German descent. Levy studied medicine at the University of Berlin, where he received his doctorate in medicine in 1931. Together with Wolfgang Metzger he was an assistant to the creator of Gestalt psychology, Max Wertheimer at the University of Frankfurt am Main.

After the arrival of the National Socialists in 1933, he emigrated to Paris via the United States. He worked in New York as a psychiatrist and psychoanalyst. He published works on psychology, mainly Gestalt psychology.
