Friendship (sculpture)

Friendship - sculpture by Alina Szapocznikow, made in the style of socialist realism, depicting two men in a friendly embrace, holding together an undeveloped banner in the hands.

It was created after the return of the artist from Paris as part of the competition for the memorial of Polish-Soviet Friendship for the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw, organized in 1953. In the competition, the first place was taken by Magdalena Więcek, but the project of Alina Szapocznikow was still carried out. The sculpture was about 3 meters high. She was in the main lobby of PKiN from the pl. Parades. It was removed in 1992, while the PKNN director was Waldemar Sawicki. Bibliography
