John the Baptist Dubois

Jean Baptiste Dubois (May 22, 1753 - Jancigny (Côte-d'Or, France), died April 1, 1808) is a naturalist, literary and linguist of French origin.

During his stay in Poland he was a professor of natural history and a librarian of the cadet corps in Warsaw in the years 1775 - 1779. He was active in writing and organization. His cause was the founding of the Physical Society, which became the secretary. At the same time he cooperated with the Society for Elementary Books KEN.

Together with Jan Filip Carosi, then director of Natural History at the time of Stanisław August Poniatowski, participated in a competition for a textbook for elementary schools.

At the beginning of 1777, Elements d'histoire naturelle and Vusage des Ecoles des Palatinats de Pologne. It covered three divisions of nature: botany, mineralogy and zoology. This project has gained recognition, as evidenced by the fact that they were commissioned to work on the preparation of the new textbook.

As a result of the difference of opinion surrounding the resulting textbook and of acute criticism in 1779, he was forced to leave Poland, so the textbook was not completed. Publications
