Munchkin (city flavor)
Munchkin - a breed of cat with extremely short legs. This effect is caused by a mutation that causes achondroplasia or hypochondroplasia. The breed was established in 1983 in Louisiana. Munchkin cats can have different lengths of hair and can be found in different color variants. They are short limbs (often shorter than the hind legs), sometimes associated with deformities of the spine (lordosis) and chest flattening. The breed is recognized only by some felinological organizations because of the significant harm (dominant) mutation for cats' health (short-term congenital malformations and about 25% fetal mortality). The International Cat Association officially recognized the breed in 1994.
