Bottle of Grandmother Prisbrey village


Grandmother's Prisbrey's Bottle Village is a tourist village where building constructions, walls and decorative elements are built from bottles and glass waste. The village is located in Simi Valley, California, USA, and as an example of folk art is one of the twentieth Century of California Folk Art Environments. History

The idea of ​​building a village from empty bottles was born in 1956. The originator was Tressa's 60-year-old "Grandma" Prisbrey. The idea was to recycle, ie to reduce the consumption of raw materials and reduce the amount of waste. For the next 25 years she has been building various transitions, sculptures and architectural structures. The most interesting are the bottle tower, the bottle car, Cleopatra's bathroom. Grandmother Prisbrey's material was found at a nearby landfill.

Today, the village is comprised of thirteen buildings and twenty sculptures and is listed as the California Historical Landmark (number 939).

The village is located on Cochran Street 4595 in Simi Valley. Officially closed in 1984. In 1994 the earthquake was damaged.

Tressa Prisbrey died in 1988.
