Eugeniusz Michalak
Eugeniusz Michalak (born October 28, 1908 in Warsaw, died July 2, 1988 in Warsaw) - Polish cyclist, Olympian from 1928, also a speed skater.
He took part in the 1928 Olympic Games in Amsterdam, where he was 49th in the road race (the Polish team was ranked 13th). He took 2nd place in the Round of Poland in 1929 after Jozef Stefanski.
He has been a leading player in the Polish championship many times. He was the champion of Poland in the cross-country race in 1929, 1930 and 1933, and vice-champion in 1928. In the race on the road from the common start he won a silver medal in 1927. Twice he was vice-champion in the mountain race (in 1928 and 1920). He won in the team race twice: in 1937 in the team of Fort Bema Warsaw and in 1938 in the team of the Warsaw Syrena.
He was also successful in track cycling. He was the Polish champion in the long-distance race for 50 km in 1931, and in 1935 he won a bronze medal in this competition. He won the Polish championship in the tandem race in 1931 (with Artur Pusz). He was twice Polish champion in the team race at 4000 m for the investigation (in 1938 and 1939 in the colors of the Syrena Warsaw).
He started in the colors of the Warsaw clubs: the Falcons (1924-1926), the WTC (1927), the Legions (1928-1933), the Dawn (1934), the Bema Fort (1935-1938), the Sirens (1938-1939), the Militia Club Sportsman (1945-1948) and Guards (1948-1950).
Michalak was also successful in speed skating. He was the champion of Poland in 1932 and vice-champion in 1931, as well as champion in 500 meters (in 1934) and in 1500 meters (in 1932). He was in the colors of Polonia Warsaw.
After graduation, he was a cycling coach.
