Jan Knapik (politician)


Jan Knapik (born 16 June 1951 in Lipinki, 7 December 2012) is a Polish self-government and politician, member of the Sejm of the 4th term.

He graduated in 1977 from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Cracow University of Technology. Since 1977 he was a member of the Polish United Workers' Party. In the years 1970-2001 he worked in the "Glinik" Drilling and Mining Machinery Plant (including the 80's in managerial positions). From 1998 to 2001 he was a councilor of the Gorlice district. He was the mandate of the deputy to the Sejm of the fourth term from the Nowy Sącz district, elected from the list of the Democratic Left Alliance. He worked in the Rules and Deputies' Affairs and Economy Committee.

In 2005 and 2007, he successfully failed to run for the parliamentary elections. In 2006 he unsuccessfully applied for a councilor's seat in the Gorlice district, and in 2010 for the councilor's mandate. He was the chairman of the Interprovincial Autonomous Trades Union of Engineering, Technical and Economic Employees, working in the Polish Hunting Association.
