Vladimir Markovich


Vladimir Vasilievich Markovich (Russian: Владимир Васильевич Марковников, born 1838, died 1904) is a Russian chemist, author of the Markovskaya rule, which specifies the attachment of halogenated hydrocarbons to unsaturated hydrocarbons.

From 1868 he was a professor at the University of Kazan, and from 1873 in Moscow. He studied the composition of Caucasian crude oil, and the alicyclic hydrocarbons found there defined naphthenes. Authoritative control (person):
