Crown King

Crown is a deserted city in Yavapai County, Arizona, United States. The town was founded by miners working in the local gold mine. Crown King is located high up in the mountains and is 42 km from Highway 17. The name comes from the name of one of the Crowned King Mine mines located near the city. At present, this deserted city is visited by tourists, which allowed to reopen parts of the buildings and revitalized the tourist traffic in nearby towns. History

The first recorded discovery of gold deposits dates back to July 1875. Over the following years more than 15 mines of this precious ore were discovered and built. During its greatest development, the city had over 500 buildings, including hotels, 2 Chinese restaurants, a pawn shop and a mail building. In 1897 the city was electrified and the first telephone set was established.

With the closure of all mines until 1950, the city was abandoned. Now in the city, with the development of tourism, restaurants and saloons have been opened. Bibliography
