Mikolaj Oleśnicki (died 1566-1567)

Mikolaj Oleśnicki of Dębno coat of arms (died after 1 June 1566 and before 15 March 1567) - owner of Pińczów, protector of the Reformation in Małopolska, brother of Jan Oleśnicki, uncle of Nicholas Oleśnicki.

In 1546, he and his brothers took over Pińczów. With his wife Zofia from Swafraniec's house, he became involved with the reform movement quite early. In 1550 he exiled from the Pinczów Paulinów and the monastery church (now St. John's Church) was dedicated to the Protestant church. He brought Gregory Orszak to Pińczów, who created the first evangelical school in the town. Although Pińczów, after his protectorate, became the main center of the Reformation in Malopolska, he himself remained on the sidelines of the events in the Church. He died between June 1, 1566 and March 15, 1567.
