Movement for the Commonwealth - Patriotic Camp

Movement for the Commonwealth - Patriotic Camp (RdR-OP) - Polish political party active in the years 1993-1998 with right, patriotic and anticommunist character, until 1996 acting under the formal name "RdR" and informal "RdR Sheremetyeva". p> History

The group was formed in December 1993 when Lech Wałęsa, a group of activists of the Movement for the Commonwealth voted to dismiss Jan Olszewski from the chair of the party and chose Romuald Szememietiew. The group associated with the former prime minister did not recognize this decision, and in March 1994 elected to the head of RDS Stanisław Węgłowski.

This led to the operation of two RdRs when Romuald Sheremiev's faction registered a party with that name in place of the former Polish Independence Party. Consequently, up to 1996 the groupings were referred to respectively as RdR (Sheremetyeva) to distinguish from RdR (Węgłowski).

In 1995 the group supported Lech Wałęsa in the presidential election. In the mid-1990s, with the Confederation of Polish Independent Federation federation under the name Patriotic Camp, which led to the adoption of the formal name RdR-Patriotic Camp in February 1996.

In the same year, RdR-OP entered the Solidarity Electoral Action. In the 1997 parliamentary elections Romuald Szeremietiew, leader of the AWS party, became the only member of parliament. In 1998 the group disbanded, joining the AWS Social Movement. Bibliography
