Orlan (born 30 May 1947 in Saint-Étienne) is a French contemporary artist. She is involved in photography, installation, sculpture, video art, performance and others.

Her biography is not widely known. In the early 1960s she adopted an artistic nickname. Her work became popular in the 1970s. Since 1990, she has been working on a project called The Reincarnation of St Orlan. The project was a series of performance shows during which Orlan's face was metamorphosed by plastic surgery. The artist made her body sculptural material. Up until now, she has made plastic surgery the centerpiece of artistic expression.
