Hachinski Ischemic Score (HIS) is a point scale for the secondary diagnosis of cerebral ischemia in the course of vascular dementia and the differential diagnosis of vascular dementia from degenerative dementia. Vascular dementia is defined by HIS value ≥ 7 points, after primary degenerative dementia HIS ≤ 4 points. The maximum value of the indicator is 18 points. The scale was developed and presented in 1975 by Vladimir Hachinski et al.
