Sosias
Achilles giving Patrokles wounds; Altes Museum, Berlin
Sosias (VI / V age, p.n.) - Greek potter, one of the representatives of the red-and-gold style.
It is known for its signature on two vases. He was a continuation of the black-and-white style, showing the characters in the broadest plane and avoiding shortcuts. He tried to cast the character's muscles with a few schematic lines. The natural folding of the robes was depicted accurately, trying to reproduce the thickness of the matter and the variety of draperies in their paintings. He painted scenes both mythological and sporting.
One of Sosias most famous works is the kyliks of the interior decorated with the Achilles effect depicting Patrokles wounds, and outside the introduction of Herakles to Olimp (now in the Altes Museum collection). Bibliography
