Bernardino Drovetti

Bernardino Drovetti (born 4 January 1776, died 1852) is an Italian diplomat, politician and art collector.

He accepted French citizenship and took part in Napoleon's expedition to Egypt. He became a French consul in Egypt, where he became friends with Mohammed Alim. With this knowledge he accumulated three huge collections of Egyptian monuments, which he intended to sell to Louis XVIII. The King of France did not accept the proposal. The first coincidence was sold to King Sardinia and Piedmont, who donated the entire wing of the Palace of the Academy of Sciences in Turin. The French decided to go to the second collection and it hit the Louvre. The third was purchased by Berlin Authoritative control (person):
