The cemetery of St. Michał in Riga


St. Miķeļa kapi) - a Roman Catholic cemetery located in Riga, in the former Schreienbusch (łat. Čiekurkalns) at ul. Gaujas 4 near junction with ul. Aizsaules. History

The decision on its creation was made on December 21, 1879. On 26 August 1882, a ceremonial dedication of the cemetery took place with the participation of Fr. Karol Marcinkiewicz. The necropolis consists of four squares separated by alleys. In the central part of the main avenue a Gothic chapel of clinker brick was built, which was dedicated on the day of St. The cemetery occupies an area of ​​less than 18 hectares, includes a hilly area planted with trees and bushes.

In the necropolis are two tombs of Poles: the Wielichowski family and the Puzyn family from Kozielska. The first one is in a state of complete ruin, the second one is restored. Bibliography
