Georges Watin

Georges Watin (born 1923 in Duperré, Algeria - February 19, 1994 in Paraguay) - French military colonel, member of the OAS.

He participated in two attacks on de Gaulle's life: on 22 August 1963 at Petit-Clamart and on 4 September of the same year at the École Militaire. Although both attacks were unsuccessful, and the hunt for OAS members began, he managed to flee and settle in Paraguay. Former soldier of the Foreign Legion.

He was probably the prototype of the Jackal character from Frederick Forsyth's novel.
