Jozef Rawicz


Józef Rawicz, Joseph Rawicz (born 15 May 1829 in Warsaw - died July 11, 1901 in Warsaw) - Polish banker of Jewish descent, American consular officer.

He was born as the son of Alexander (a banker and heir to the Grochów estate, 1800-1865) and Maria Gutman (1807-1877). Married with Melania Jastrzębska (1838-1905), with whom he had a son Joseph Józef Alexander (born 1874, Colonel of the Polish Army cavalry). He was the co-owner of the banking house, Aleksander Rawicz and S-ka, in 1865-1901 his director, director of the Warsaw Fire Insurance Association, president of the Rescue Society, deputy chairman of the Society for the Care of Animals. From 1873 he was a trade judge. He served as Honorary Consul of the United States in Warsaw (1875-1898). He was buried at the Powązki Cemetery. Bibliography
