The Last Temptation of Christ (novel)


The Last Temptation of Christ (Ο Τελευταίος Πειρασμός, O Teleftaíos Peirasmós) - the novel by Nikos Kazandzakis was first published in 1951. The book is about the life of Jesus from his perspective and focuses on the fact that, while he was free from sin, he also struggled with temptation, fear, depression, doubt, reluctance and desire.

The publication of the novel caused a lot of controversy, and the book itself often appears in the list of banned books. Movie version A separate article: The Last Temptation of Christ (film).

In 1988, a film directed by Martin Scorsese with Willem Dafoe was filmed on the basis of the novel.
