Bernhard Kamnitzer


Bernhard Kamnitzer (born October 25, 1890 in Tczew, died July 15, 1959 in New York) is a Jewish politician, activist of the Jewish minority, Volkstag (1924-1930) and Member of the WMG Senate (1928-1930). lawyer's profession. Curriculum vitae

He was the MP of the SPD for Volkstag II and III term (1924-1930). In the years 1928-1930 he was a member of the center of the Senate of the Free City of Gdansk, where he was responsible for the budget.

He was in favor of relaxing with his neighbors: he supported the normalization of Polish-German relations and established economic cooperation with the USSR.

After the takeover of power by the NSDAP in Gdańsk in 1935, he acted in defense of the rights of the Jewish population.
