Hendrick Hop

His father was Jacob Hop (1654-1725), whom Hendrick was second son. Hendrick was influenced by his father's regimental officer, Nassau-Ouwerkerk. In 1710 he was promoted to major, and in 1727 he was colonel-commandant. He ended his military career as general and governor of the city of Namen.

Between 1723 and 1761 he was a Dutch ambassador in London.

His older brother was Cornelis Hop (1685-1762).
