Jan Gomoła


Jan Gomoła (born 1875, died 1967) - Polish plebiscite activist, Silesian insurgent, activist of the Polish Association in Germany. By the Germans called "Polish king".

During World War II he was arrested by the Gestapo along with his sons Joseph (born 1907) and Antoni (born 1909) and sent to the concentration camp Buchenwald. The rest of his sons were forced into the Wehrmacht, but soon they were thrown out for insubordination and sent to concentration camps. Władysław Gomola (born 1910) and Jan Gomola (born 1915) were placed in Buchenwald and Ludwik Gomola (born 1904) and Dominika Gomola (born 1919) in Gross-Rosen and later in Litomierzyce.
