John Dalrymple, 6th Earl of Stair (born 1749, died 1821) was a British (Scottish) aristocrat and diplomat.

His father was John Dalrymple, 5th Earl of Stair (1720-1789). John inherited the title of Count 6 of Stair in 1789. Like his great-great-granddaughter John Dalrymple, 2nd Earl of Stair, he was a Member of Great Britain in Poland. This function was performed in the years 1782-1784.

Between 1778 and 1787 he corresponded with Robert Murray Keith, a British representative in Austria. His son was John William Henry Dalrymple, 7th Earl of Stair (1784-1840).
