Josef Bergmüller


Josef Bergmüller (born 1912, died?) - Nazi criminal, member of the concentration camp Flossenbürg and SS-Oberscharführer.

By profession farmer and butcher. Member of NSDAP (since January 1936) and Waffen-SS. Served in the Flossenbürg camp as SS chef from September 1940 to December 1943. In January 1944 Bergmüller became head of the prisoner kitchen and remained in that post until April 1945. As such, he was brutal and ruthless, torturing prisoners with various types of weapons (such as batons) and bare hands. Josef Bergmüller sat on the bench in the fifth trial of Flossenbürg's crew before the American Military Tribunal in Dachau. For his crimes he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Bibliography
