Maria Chiara


Maria Chiara (born November 24, 1939 in Oderzo) is an Italian opera singer, lyricist.

She graduated from the Venice Conservatoire and studied singing in Turin under the tutelage of Maria Carbone and Ricardo Cassinelli. In 1965 she made her debut in the Venetian opera Desdemona in Otell Giuseppe Verdi. The debut proved to be a great success and the young artist quickly gained the reputation of one of the Italian repertoire specialists (Verdi and Giacomo Puccini) and performed in Amsterdam, Berlin and Vienna in subsequent years, including Violetta in Traviolo, Tosca in Tosca (The famous 1974 show in Naples and Madame Butterfly, but she was most impressed by Aida (in which she filmed a CD and filmed), and performed at the Metropolitan Opera, also playing Micaela in Carmen.
