AN-M40

AN-M40 - American bomb squad weighing 22 pounds. It was used during World War II by US Air Force and USAAC. Transferred in AN-M4 blast bombs.

The AN-M40 bomb consisted of a metal sleeve filled with explosive material, which was screwed onto a square steel bar spiral (fragmentation of the spiral was the main source of debris). Both ends of the sleeve were terminated by threading the head and the tail part of the bomb. The thread was made of threaded AN-M104 or AN-M120. To the back of the bomb was a cylindrical container that held the parachute, slowing down the bomb. Bibliography
