The mikvah in Lodz
Mykwa in Łódź - a mikvah's building located in Lodz on Pomorska Street 18. It is the first Jewish ritual bath in the city since the end of World War II.
Mykwa was built in 2006-2008 according to the project of Zbigniew Jachorski, under the supervision of Rabbi Gedaly Olshtein, a representative of the Conference of European Rabbis. The wawk has 2 parts independent of each other - in the same building but with separate entrance: swimming pool and men's section with showers and changing room and swimming pool and women's section with showers, dressing room and beauty parlor. It is supplied with rainwater which is collected by a special system mounted on the roof of the building. The construction of the mikvah costed about $ 300,000.
On June 24, 2008, the mikvah was solemnly opened, and two meshes were dug in. Jewish religious dignitaries took part in the ceremony. Jechiel Jehuda Moshe Danziger, son of the tzadik of Alexandra of Bnei None in Israel, Rabbi and religious judge Ben-Cijon Wozner of the United Kingdom, Chief Rabbi of Poland Michael Schudrich, President of the Jewish Community of Lodz Symcha Keller, Chief Rabbi of Galicia Edgar Gluck, rabbi of Cracow Boaz Pash, Rabbi Chabad of Cracow Eliezer Gurary, Marshal of Lodz Voivodeship Wlodzimierz Fisiak and others. The ceremony was graced by the concert of the Chassidic synagogue of Alexandra in Bnei-Lack at the Academic Center for Artistic Initiatives, which was once the main prayer of the Chassidim of Alexandra in Lodz.
